Medication Dose
& Dilution Calculator
Calculate volume for your selected dose, prepare a target dilution, and see how much medication each aliquot contains.
This tool performs arithmetic for one medication at a time. It does not select a dose or confirm that a preparation is appropriate for injection.
Your inputs
Dose to volume
Enter your vial concentration and the dose you have selected.
Use the concentration printed on the vial. For a % w/v label, 1% = 10 mg/mL.
Enter the dose you have independently selected. 1 mg = 1,000 mcg.
Examples demonstrate calculations only; they are not treatment recommendations.

Units and calculation assumptions
Percentage means weight/volume: 1% w/v is 1 g per 100 mL, or 10 mg/mL. This does not apply to percentage by volume, percentage by weight, activity units, ratio strengths, or combination products.
Dilution: Uses C₁V₁ = C₂V₂ and assumes a medication-free diluent and additive volumes. Use the intended final volume, not the diluent volume. Choose a compatible diluent according to product-specific instructions.
Aliquots: Calculates one medication at a time. Repeat separately for each medication in a preparation. The calculator does not establish that medications can be mixed.
Clinical checks: Verify the actual vial, dose, route, compatibility, stability, preservative status, and sterile preparation requirements. This tool does not calculate maximum anesthetic exposure or assess patient-specific safety.
Product label examples: Naropin concentrations; lidocaine administration and mixture precautions.
